Does it work?
We were not able to make a ramp that was true to size, but I believe that if we were able to, then it would have worked. Dog ramps already exist, and people wouldn’t buy them if they don’t work. Our product is similar to other products, so I believe ours would work too.
Does it solve the need?
Yes, it would solve the need because it makes it more accessible for dogs to get up and down if they have trouble. It’s built at a 25° angle, so it’s not too steep that they wouldn’t be able to go up. It’s also 18 inches in length (in theory), so John’s dog would have enough room without having the fear of falling
Communicate the results and get feedback. Analyze and talk about what works, what doesn't, and what could be improved
Since we weren’t able to test it out with a real dog or build it to scale, I’m not sure what the exact results would look like. However, I do believe that there are some areas that we did well on, and others that we could have improved on. An area I think we did well on was the measurements. We wanted to make sure that wasn’t going to be too long in length, but also not too steep that it would be hard to walk up. We decided that 25° would be the best because it’s a gradual slope, so I think that that works out very well. I don’t think anything wouldn’t work because it’s not something complex where mistakes can be made in a lot of places. The only way it wouldn’t work is if it collapses because it’s not strong enough, but I have faith that John would build it perfectly if we made one true to size. One thing I think we could add that would improve our product is a small railing on one side of the ramp. It might not help the dog, but it may help the owner not worry that the dog may fall off the side while going up. I also think it would be nice if we were able to make it adjustable or collapsible because it’s on the larger side, and wouldn’t be easy to store when you’re not using it.
